Forecasted heavy rain and high winds means that Booby Bear’s Fun Run & Walk in association with Dandara, which was due to take place this Saturday (5th October) at Mooragh Park, has been rescheduled for Saturday 26th October, with a slightly earlier starting time of 4.30pm to make the most of daylight.

Event Organiser and one of the founders of Manx Breast Cancer Support Group Julie Stokes explained: ‘It is real shame we have to postpone this weekend’s event but it is absolutely the best and the right decision to make. It will now fall on our annual Isle of Woman Pink Weekend, where we’ll have lots of other fundraising fun and events going in on so it is all fitting together nicely!

‘For anyone else still wanting to join in the fun, registration for Booby Bear’s Fun Run & Walk will now remain open until 23rd October, with on-the-day registrations at 3.30pm in Mooragh Park. That means there’s still time to take part (preferably in pink fancy dress!) and complete up to three laps of Mooragh Park followed by some tasty refreshments. Don’t forget, dogs aren’t allowed due to the route location.’

Dandara Marketing Director Jo Orton added: ‘It was a tough call for the charity to postpone the event this weekend but given the forecast we agree it is the right decision to make. We’re looking forward to the rescheduled date and are keeping our fingers crossed for some crisp autumnal sun!’

Booby Bear’s Fun Run & Walk will now commence at 4.30pm prompt on Saturday 26th October. Check-in will open from 3.30pm at the charity’s pink gazebo, stationed at Ramsey Rugby Club car park.

The children’s entry fee is £5 and includes flashing bunny ears, a Manx Breast Cancer medal, sausage bap and a fruit juice, or they can pay £10 and get a Limited edition Booby Bear Blingy Medal. Flashing bunny ears, a limited edition Booby Bear Blingy medal, hot sausage bap (vegetarian option available) and choice of a pink G&T or fruit juice is included in the adults entrant fee of £15 – with all proceeds going to the charity and staying on the Island as always, to go towards the CT scanner appeal.
